July 2025

At TRM Ministries, we believe every child is a reflection of our Heavenly Father’s love, and it is our responsibility to help them see their worth through the uncertainty and chaos of life. We have consistently averaged 55 children per night in our care — a number that continues to grow. And with that growth, comes a greater need — `more family rooms in the Hope Center, more stability, and more love to be poured out. This July, our focus is on standing in the gap for the 55 children who call TRM home each night and for many more in our community who are navigating their own needs of making ends meet, uncertainty, and fear for the next school year.

When we say that we are “standing in the gap” for our kids at TRM, we mean we are working to building a bridge between them and their future. At TRM, this looks like it is more than simply handing out backpacks, but also providing safe, family-centered spaces in our Hope Center where children can rest without fear. We are committed to doing more by offering trauma-informed environments, healthy spaces for children to process their emotions and rediscover their sense of worth, and offering consistent educational support and opportunities for spiritual nourishment and healing. This means that we need to be intentional with our community and refuse to not only give up on their parents, but we will not give up on them either. By actively standing in the gap, we are showing up, staying present, and pouring the love of Jesus into every detail of their journey. We want even the children to know that they matter and that there is nothing they can do to make God love them any more or less.

This truth anchors us, even when children don’t feel God’s love or understand it—His common grace is at work. And that grace shows up in every backpack filled, every pencil sharpened, and every staff member or volunteer who kneels down to look a child in the eye and call them precious. The world may tell these children they are broken or forgotten, but we know better. We are committed to standing in the gap to remind them of their immeasurable worth. Just as we discussed Mister Rogers in the newsletter last month, we don’t view our guests—and the children are no exception—as lost and broken. We want to offer a space where they can find hope.

Back-to-School Distribution

To practically demonstrate this love, TRM is once again hosting our annual Back-to-School distribution. This time we have with our guests and those in the community is more than simply handing out school supplies—it’s about telling every child and student, “We see you. We believe in you. Your education matters.”

Our distribution dates are:

August 5 for Hope Center children

August 6 for the broader Topeka community

We still have critical needs and we are calling upon our donors for the items listed on the next page!

All of these supplies have been listed on TRM’s Amazon Wish List, making it easy for everyone to shop and support with just a few clicks. Consider sharing with friends, coworkers, or your church. You could even organize a small supply drive in your neighborhood or workplace to expand the impact. No matter what, every contribution helps us meet the needs of more children.

This month, standing in the gap means more than simply supplying school materials. It means investing in a child’s dignity, identity, and future. As we prepare for the upcoming school year, we invite you to join us in showing these children just how deeply they are loved by their community and by their Heavenly Father.

Let’s continue to be people who love in the gap, because every child deserves to start school knowing they matter. Together, through your generosity and prayer, we can show them a love that never fails and a hope that endures.

The Father’s love is here, His grace is present, and His hope is already at work.

Thank you, Father. †
