September 2023 NEWSLETTER

Can you believe it’s September already?!  It feels like we just celebrated the new year, yet here we are plunging into Fall!  We are excited to highlight just a few of the ways God has worked here at TRM this summer.  Just like God’s spirit was moving over the surface of the waters in Genesis 1:2, his spirit is moving in and around TRM in tremendous ways.  We have been incredibly blessed and inundated with God’s love and faithfulness this past few months.  Let us look at some of the ways God has been blessing TRM!

Back to School Distribution

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14. TRM has the honor of being able to help children and families who are being affected by the harsh rise in living costs. We are charged with the responsibility to help and meet the needs of children and not hinder them as Jesus said. What better way to assist our kids and support their education this upcoming school year than to prepare them with the tools they will need?  With your bountiful donations and aid we were able to give away close to 500 backpacks!!   That is how God does it!  He moves in huge ways and shows his faithfulness constantly! Seeing those precious kids’ smiles and excitement when they were handed a brand-new backpack full of supplies was priceless! Angela, a grandmother that we served who takes care of her four grandchildren said, “This helped me get my grandkids ready for school and saved me some money that I didn’t have to get for them.” She was grateful to us for helping her.  On behalf of TRM, thank you to all who donated, volunteered, and prayed for us! This experience enhances our ministry and God’s work.”

What is Heartland Huddle?

In the August newsletter, we discussed the Citygate Network Conference and how it impacted the attendees, inspiring them to be more courageous and daring in their service to the Lord. In 2 Timothy 1:7, Paul reminds us that God has given us not a spirit of fear but power, love, and a sound mind. As followers of Jesus, we are called to be bold and unafraid as we do His work on earth. Thanks to the conference and our strong connections with our fellow Christians who are dedicated to helping the less fortunate, TRM has been invited to host the Heartland Huddle for our region! This exciting event will take place at the Great Overland Station on October 10th.  We are blessed to be a part of this network and grateful to God for their unending support, love, and guidance.

Night of Praise Fundraiser

We are thrilled to share that TRM is hosting its First Annual “Night of Praise” Fundraiser! As followers of the Lord, Topeka Rescue Mission has been blessed with the opportunity to serve as Jesus’ hands and feet. With the help of our generous donors, dedicated staff, and hardworking volunteers, we can assist those who are homeless, hungry, hopeless, and unseen. Our mission goes beyond just providing immediate assistance; we also support individuals on their journey after they leave our shelter. We are grateful for the unwavering dedication of everyone involved. In 1 Corinthians 15:58, it states, “Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.” At this fundraiser, you will have the chance to hear about the ways the Lord has worked through TRM in the lives of some of our guests and unsheltered neighbors. We will be featuring three worship bands from Fellowship Bible Church, Gracepoint Church, and Topeka Bible Church.  You will have the opportunity to come to fellowship with fellow believers, praise our magnificent Lord and Savior, and hear about the work we are doing here at TRM.  The event will take place on September 24th from 6:30-8 pm at Fellowship Bible Church located at 6800 SW 10th St.

Thank you Lord for your continued faithfulness!
