Meet Jami

Jami Weeks’ journey is one of resilience, faith, and divine intervention. Struggling with addiction, she knew she had to leave her past behind to survive. Desperate and out of options, she cried out to God for help—and the very next day, He answered. She was accepted into a rehab program, but with nowhere to go while waiting to enter, she found herself at the doors of the Topeka Rescue Mission (TRM). What she thought would be just a temporary shelter became the place where her faith was strengthened, and her life was transformed.

After completing rehab, Jami made the bold decision to stay in Topeka and trust God’s plan for her future. She entered TRM’s CaRE program, leaning on her faith as she fought to stay sober, rebuild her life, and regain custody of her son. But the road wasn’t easy. An unexpected injury cost her a job, leading to eviction and rejection from housing programs. She felt defeated—but every time she was ready to give up, God showed up. Through the unwavering support of TRM’s staff, especially housing specialist Crystal, Jami found the strength to keep going. She prayed, held onto hope, and finally, after countless obstacles, she received the miracle she had been waiting for—a home of her own.

Today, Jami is thriving, living proof of God’s faithfulness. She has stable housing, steady employment, and, most importantly, a renewed relationship with her children. More than just a story of survival, hers is a testimony of redemption, grace, and the power of faith. She now stands as a witness to the truth that with Christ, no one is beyond hope, and no past is too broken for a new beginning.
