Facilities

Main Shelter

Main Shelter Our main facility was built in 1991 and has 24,000sq ft. The administrative offices, chapel, dining room, and men's shelter are all located in this building. The Administrative Offices are open 8am to 5pm Monday - Friday.

Hope Center

Hope Center The Hope Center is our shelter for single women and families. It was built in 2000 when it was determined that we were no longer able to accommodate the growing numbers of families that were coming to us for help in the existing shelter.

The Hope Center is located at:
116 NW Curtis
Topeka, KS 66608
Phone: 785-354-1744, ext. 309

Distribution Center

Distribution Center The Distribution Center is our warehouse and supply center for the Topeka Rescue Mission as well as outreach into our community. The Distribution Center is where we sort, store, distribute and recycle donations that are received.

Show / Hide More Distribution Center Info
The DC is located at 401 NW Norris. It is open from 8 AM to 3 PM Monday - Friday to receive donations and help with approved requests. An application for assistance may be completed at the main shelter at 600 N. Kansas, or faxed if from an agency or church.

Phone: 785-357-4285
Fax: 785-357-5339

Food Warehouse
The Food Warehouse is where all non-perishable food items are stored and distributed from including kitchen orders being filled and delivered. Food boxes are made and then delivered to the main shelter to be distributed to those that qualify for assistance with a food box.

Sorting Donations
A big part of the Distribution Center operation is sorting of the donations. The clothing, bedding, blankets, towels, etc. that can be used are pulled out and distributed as needed. The remainder is baled in large bales (approximately 900 lbs/ea). These bales end up going to other countries where the clothing is greatly needed.

The Clothing Bank is restocked daily through the Distribution Center. It is located in the main shelter and is open to guests of the mission as well as anyone in the community that is in need of free clothing.

The shoes, boots, purses, belts, stuffed animals, hard plastic toys, baseball caps, books, metal, and cardboard are all sorted. Anything usable is distributed to those in need and the remainder is recycled if possible.

Furniture such as beds, couches, chairs, dressers, tables, etc. are always needed. As guests staying at the mission get housing in their own name and have income to support it we provide furniture, household goods, and food to help them get started.

Because of your donations lives are being touched not only here at the Rescue Mission, but in our community and around the world as well.

Christmas Shop and Back to School Fair
Christmas Shop and Back to School fair are a couple of the special events held each year at the Distribution Center. If you are interested in volunteering to help with these events, or at any other time, please call our volunteer coordinator at the main shelter.

Thrift Store

Thrift Store The Thrift store has been temporarily relocated to 831 N. Kansas Ave.

The Thrift Store is an important way to support those in need throughout our community by providing 10% of our income and low cost clothing and goods for the public. All proceeds are used to support the Mission.
